The Council has today published its draft “Revised Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) in Planning Matters” for public consultation. This is clearly a good opportunity to have a direct involvement in the setting of council policy, and so it is hoped that as many residents as possible will comment. The announcement says:
“The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is a document that describes how the public, businesses and interest groups can get involved in the creation of local planning policy, neighbourhood planning and the planning application decision making process. This is essential to help improve understanding and openness of the planning process.
The preparation of an SCI is a legal requirement and the Council is legally obliged to comply with its SCI once it is adopted.
The Council adopted its first SCI in August 2006. Since 2006, the Council has reviewed and updated the SCI on two occasions (December 2009 and September 2013) to take into account of changes within planning legislation.
The Draft Revised SCI 2017 was agreed for public consultation by Cabinet on 13 September 2017.
We are seeking your views on the draft SCI. The document can be viewed on the Council’s website.
Hard copies of the document are available for viewing purposes at Customer Services at the Council Offices in Andover and the Former Magistrates’ Court in Romsey.
