Hampshire & IoW Police Commissioner Donna Jones is encouraging responses to the consultation on household DIY waste disposal charges. She endorses the view that removing such charges would tend to reduce the incidence of fly tipping. Whatever your position on the matter, why not go ahead and respond to the DEFRA consultation.

It’s pleasing to hear that TVBC managed to identify and successfully prosecute one of the people responsible for the recent spate of fly-tipping in Roman Road. See this article for details. We should all follow the advice in the final paragraph, viz. to check the licence credentials of any waste-carriers with whom we contract. If we turn a blind eye, we ourselves become part of the fly-tipping problem even though we probably will not be prosecuted.
