Saturdays in October – The Hovercraft Museum Open Days
The Hovercraft Museum in Gosport is open every Saturday 10 am until 4 pm except for a brief closure during the Winter period. In addition to these hours, we offer special events throughout the year. We aim to have a summer season full of events and activities including the return of Hovertravel Ltd to provide pleasure flights around the Solent from our slipway on selected dates. Our volunteers will continue to get the collection ready for you to visit and we can’t wait to be able to welcome you through the gates once again!

Sundays in October – Friends Of The New Forest Airfields Open Days
We stage open days at the centre in Bransgore twice a month, 10am-4pm on Sundays, from March to October. Sundays in October will be the 10th and 24th. We ask all visitors, except young children, to wear face coverings, to use the hand sanitising materials provided and to respect social distancing, as well as is possible. Heritage Centre at Bransgore and the New Forest Airfields Memorial at the former Holmsley WWII South airfield

Sunday 3rd October – Twyford Water Works Museum Open Day
Twyford Waterworks is an Edwardian pumping station containing a unique selection of buildings and machinery within a rural down land setting in the heart of Hampshire. The site was given the status of a Scheduled Ancient Monument in 1973 and passed, as such, to the Southern Water Authority on 1st April 1974. In 1985 the Twyford Waterworks Trust was incorporated as a charity to run it.

Monday 4th October – Winchester Café Scientifique Online Talk
“The role of blended hydrogen: decarbonizing heating” – Prof Zoe Robinson – Keele University. Zoe is Professor of Sustainability in Higher Education and Co-Director of the Institute for Sustainable Futures at Keele University. Reaching ‘net zero’ greenhouse gas emissions requires a fundamental shift in our energy systems.

Wednesday 6th October – Romsey – South Hants Historical Aviation Society Talk
‘Home-built aircraft from 1910 to now’ a talk by Malcolm Rogan. All meetings 7.30 for 7.45pm start. Due to COVID pre-booked Members only. Romsey Working Men’s Conservative Club. Contact Mike Webster

Tuesday 12th – Wednesday 14th October – Southampton – Ocean Business 2021

Monday 18th October – Salisbury – Museum of Army Flying Event
“Women in Aviation”  We are very excited to be welcoming an audience back into the Museum on Monday 18th October for a live panel discussion focusing on women in aviation. Did you know that the Army Air Corps was the first branch of the British Armed Forces in which women served in combat roles? Find out more by joining Paul Beaver and our specially invited guest panel, including: Lt Col Penny Kitson, Army Air Corps, Major Hannah Mathers, Joint Helicopter Command and Captain Charlotte Joyce. Buy your ticket and join us in the Museum for the opportunity to ask your questions. Tickets are £10 and include light refreshments. If you are unable to attend in person then there will still be the opportunity to watch online and join in the live Q&A. 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Thursday 28th October – Eastleigh – Solent Aviation Society Meeting
